Group reflection paper Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
Group reflection paper - Essay Example Moreover, a member who does not work is quite noticeable in a small group so that every individual is forced to give some output in order avoid criticisms. In addition, quality work is more assured in a small group for similar reasons therefore, small group concepts are widely used in schools and other institutions. The first phase of decision emergence theory was quite obvious is the group of Cuisine Queens during which, there was quite a tension among us, not knowing much about each other. When we were getting acquainted with each member, there was a high degree of politeness and consideration, each wanting to show respect and hoping the same to be given by the other member of the group. The group had to make clear the goals and procedures of the activity to avoid misunderstanding among us. We agreed on our topic and we decided to work individually on the questionnaire before we continue with the interviews as a group. Questions were raised to clarify matters that seemed vague. Everyone seemed to be satisfied with the results of this stage because the process went on smoothly and we were able to make new friends. During the second phase, some conflicts sprouted because of individual differences. As the group was getting more acquainted and comfortable with each other, reservations were minimized and there were some who spoke their thoughts openly. There could have been no problem about this if all the members agreed on just one opinion but just like in every group, there were differing opinions that were presented. In addition, the attitudes of each member became more evident so that the group was able to choose on a leader who should be responsible in keeping the group on track. During the emergence stage, our group improved from arguing to being more focused on achieving goals. Some who earlier had strong oppositions turned to a compromised attitude in order to finish the task and perhaps for the reason that things have been made clear that one

Study for econ Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Study for econ - Essay Example The economic systems are classified on the basis of the ownership of the factor of production, the legal framework, level of competition, distribution of income, and the organization of decision making. The economic systems are evaluated on the basis of the abovementioned factors or criteria and are normally categorized into three main categories which are as follow: Capitalism is basically derived from the right to life, right to liberty, and right to property. This means that capitalism supports the private ownership of the property in order to control the means of production. Other important characteristics include exchange, capital, efficiency, use of markets, etc. In capitalism the market is controlled by the market forces and there is decentralized decision making and economic system. At the same time there are no legal or political institutions or framework to control the market. Five basic characteristics of capitalism economic system are as follow: Marx implemented the theory of history on the sociological and economic impacts of the capitalism economic system. He was of the idea that the capitalism can only occur in short run due to its negative impacts in long run and thus viewed the capitalism economic system at historical stage. According to him the capitalism economics system can only be progressive in short run and eventually will be useless and will be overtaken by socialism. Marx criticized the approach of capitalism as a social economic relation only between the people as opposite to the relation between the people and resources or things. The concept of the private ownership of capital tends to benefit the owners and ignore the labors and workers. The owners earn profits and income on the expense of the labors and workers. He claimed that the capitalism will results in accumulation of more and more capital by the owner and thus diminishing the labors or working class and thus will create the need of social reforms. Chinua Achebes Africa Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
Chinua Achebes Africa - Essay Example They live almost entirely on yams, which are considered a manââ¬â¢s crop, but they also ate things that the women grew such as fruits and vegetables. The people in the village are very much like people everywhere else - there are many who work very hard and are respected and there are others, like Okonkwo's father Unoka who would rather spend their time entertaining others. But the common practice of the tribes was to indiscriminately cut down the virgin forests and exploit the resources of the land in the same way that the white man wanted to exploit the resources of the land. In this way, they aren't really that much different than the white men who come in toward the end of the book. It seems like that is the major message Achebe was trying to get across about the people in his book - that whether they were black or white, they were all the same underneath. Just like the white men, the black men of the village work and struggle to eke out a survival in a harsh land. It is becau se the land is so difficult instead of any lack of personal development that forces the society to base social status on each man's success as a farmer. Unoka is proof that a friendlier land that didn't make it so difficult to grow things would have led to a more artistically developed society.
Comparison the methods of the back up in ( Macintosh Apple and Windows Literature review
Comparison the methods of the back up in ( Macintosh Apple and Windows ) - Literature review Example In any computer system, one of the most important aspects is to maintain effective backup. In computer, any kind of threats can damage the important files and valuable resources. Internal factors such as power fluctuations, faults in hard drive and system conflicts among other aspects can endanger the data. Moreover, several external factors such as fire outrage, flood or earthquake can also threaten the valuable data. In traditional times, people usually maintained data on paper and thus, they were only concerned about external threats. Besides, most people also did not make copy of every record, thus the loss was devastating. However, in present days, the data is recorded in a digital format, making it vulnerable to both internal as well as external threats. Nevertheless, the digital information has allowed for simple procedure of data back up in multiple places by using different applications1. According to Vesperman (2002), information in computer is stored in hard disk. Hard disk has moving components and the data in hard disk can wear out sooner or later. Thus, there is a need for maintaining copy of data in other places2. Backup is regarded as the representative copy of data. This copy comprises vital parts of system such as control files and data files. When the original data is lost or corrupted by any external or internal factors, the backup file is used to restore the physical files. In any catastrophic incident, database backup is considered as the prime method to successfully recuperate the data. Furthermore, restoring and recovering data from backup files can be operationally beneficial3. There are a variety of media that can be used for backup such as CDs, DVDs and removable disks among others. The backup media arrives with software which requests for the data users desire to backup. According to Ruggiero & Heckathorn (2012), disk based storage system provides quick backup and restore

Marketing Mix Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words - 1
Marketing Mix - Essay Example "On this path the business grows either by logical extensions of the existing product line (new performance levels, and added features or services) or the addition of related products" (Day 320). If only life was as simple as that. The marketplace is dotted with products that have fallen on the wayside. Product development involves a lot more than the whims of a few people within the organization. Prahalad and Ramaswamy claim that it is the customer who has the competence to create value. (Prahalad and Ramaswamy 81) "Price is the marketing mix element that produces revenue; the others produce costs" Kotler 456. The way a company prices its products depends on what its wants to achieve through that policy. The pricing objectives that companies usually want to achieve through their pricing However price is not a sustainable competitive advantage. Whatever the advantage that a company may accrue from its pricing policy, that does not usually result in sustained competitive advantage. When price is used as a tool for competitive advantage, it is usually low price. And low prices often trigger price wars. And invariably the victims of every price war, are the companies that used low price as a weapon. An instance is the "airline price wars of 1992" (Rao, Bergen and David 107) Place; one of the elements of the marketing mix, is a marketing tool from the organization's perspective. From a customer's point of view, place is seen as convenience. "Place" in the marketing mix refers to how a company makes its products available to customers. The primary consideration here is customer convenience. There are myriad ways in which a company can distribute its products. A company can take its products directly to customers or use the services of channel partners. There are several factors on which distribution decisions depend. One reason for the success of online grocery stores is convenience. Shopping for groceries is not hedonistic. And as such people would rather buy them online. Promotion The marketing mix element "promotion", comprises of all the actions that a company must take to make its products visible to its target market and educate customers about its 3 benefits. This could involve hiring sales personnel, appointing an advertising agency, and formulating promotional programs. The Four Ps Procter &Gamble (P&G) focuses on middle-of-the-market packaged goods, because that is where sales, for this genre of products, are the highest. In the early 1990s P&G made remarkable changes to its pricing, promotion strategy and distribution channel deals. It introduced a "value pricing strategy", gave its advertising expenditure a fillip, reduced its in-store displays and trade deals, while at the same time reducing its coupon promotions. The reasons for P&G to tweak or cut back on the marketing mix elements were "cost of administering promotions", its yoyo effect on production, and its impact on customer loyalty. Coupons only encouraged cherry pickers and discouraged loyal customers. As a consequence of its grand plan on marketing mix P&G reduced its coupon expenditures by 50%, reduced its place expenses by 20% and increased promotion expenses by 20%. At this time the general market trend was an increase in "deals and

In and out of cloud computing Literature review
In and out of cloud computing - Literature review Example In an attempt of trying to gain a competitive advantage, businesses are eagerly looking for innovative ways of maximizing profits, while cutting down costs. Their growth ambition is normally hindered by money saving pressure. They therefore try new methods and ideas, which they think can produce better results than what they tried yesterday. It is this innovative technologies growing acceptance that has made clod computing to be the ITââ¬â¢s biggest buzzword (Basset 1997, P.13). However, it is very important for any organization to fully understand what, how, why, and from whom ideas, before jumping into cloud computing. Providers of cloud computing are not the same and their services are different in range and quality, and hence, it is advisable that potential users do a thorough investigation into the nature of services they are bound to receive. According to Basset (1997, p.15), the main economic appeal of cloud computing is that it allows customers to only use what they need a nd only pay for what they use. These resources can easily be accessed at all times from the cloud, from any location, through the internet. It is also called ââ¬ËIT on demandââ¬â¢ or utility computing because you simply buy your required IT service, just like any other utility. It makes use of remote servers, which are housed in data centers that are highly secured for data management and storage. Therefore, organizations have no need of buying and looking after their in-house IT solutions. This review aims at assessing the extent to which cloud base computing can replace in-house. Literature Review Key Concepts of Cloud Computing Cloud computing can be seen as a pyramid of three sections. At the apex is cloud application. This is where applications are interacted and run through a web browser, re mote client or hosted desktop. Cloud application removes the install and run application need in the computer of the customer. This removes the need for support, ongoing operations, and software maintenance. Johnson (1998, p.107) asserts that the cloud platform is in the middle, and provides a service framework. It dynamically configures, and reconfigures servers according to the need to cope with decrease or increase in demand. The cloud infrastructure forms the pyramidââ¬â¢s foundation of IT infrastructure via virtualization. It includes, networks, servers and hardware appliances, which act as ââ¬Å"web serversâ⬠, ââ¬Å"cloud centersâ⬠or ââ¬Å"farmsâ⬠. Johnson (1998, p.108) concludes that interlinking these with others provides additional capacity and resilience. There are three types of cloud computing namely private, public and hybrid. The public cloud is also called the external cloud and describes cloud computing as often virtualized, dynamically provisioned, and scalable resources that re readily available in the internet, from a third party provider, who is normally off-site, for example ThinkGrid. Private cloud is also referred to as internal or corporate cloud, and denotes a computing architecture that provides a host of private services. It is used by many large companies, but negates many cloud computing benefits, because such companies will still need to buy set up and monitor their clouds. Hybrid cloud combines providers of internal and external resources, thus becoming enterprisesââ¬â¢ most popular choice. There are many services that can be achieved via cloud computing by taking advantage e of
